What is Hiraeth?
“Hiraeth” is a Welsh word that translates to a deep longing. It speaks to the yearning we all hold for home, belonging, and understanding.

At Hiraeth Discoveries, we welcome all who seek to explore the longings of the soul. Rooted in ancient and modern Celtic spirituality, this is a space to rediscover beauty, wisdom, and community.
Our Foundation
Much has been written about Celtic spirituality, both pre-Christian and Christian. It offers an invitation into a worldview of landscapes, the physical ones beyond us and the inner written within our souls and spirits.
Pre-Christian Druid influences emphasized education, wisdom, communal life, poetry, beauty, and an intimate connection with nature. Families lived in circular dwellings, gathering in shared spaces for prayer and community.
Early Celtic Christian traditions carried forward these values, nurturing reflective practices, communal monastic life, education, prayer, self-reflection, and responsibility to all of creation.

We believe God, by many names, has placed this longing within us. This hiraeth is a home waiting to be discovered.
Our Foundation
Our work is shaped by values that invite reflection, imagination, and connection.
Beauty:
Beauty has the power to soften the heart and awaken the soul. It draws us toward wonder, healing, and a deeper sense of presence in the world around us.
Imagination and Wonder:
Imagination and wonder invite us to enter mystery with curiosity and openness. They remind us that creativity is a sacred gift that shapes how we see, feel, and discover meaning.
Knowledge:
Knowledge helps us reflect on our experiences and understand them more fully. It guides us toward wisdom, insight, and responsible action in our lives and communities.
Relationship with Creation:
We recognize the earth, sea, sky, and all living beings as companions in our shared life, and we are called to live with gratitude, reverence, and care for the natural world.
Community:
Community is where learning, honesty, and transformation unfold. In shared life and mutual support, we discover that our journeys are never meant to be walked alone.
The Circles of Discovery
Each circle is an invitation to experience, learn, and journey in community.
